Legal

Some customer express concern that reproducing VIN decals is not lawful (compliance decal, door jam sticker). Please consider these points:

  • Decal Restore does not make VIN decals that Porsche currently sells. We only make decals that Porsche has stopped making.
  • It is not illegal to replace a VIN decal that exactly copies the original VIN decal.

Decal Restore is not responsible for misuse of our products. Decal restore will immediately report to Authorities knowledge of persons attempting to commit vehicle identity fraud.

  • It is illegal to change the identity of one vehicle to that of another vehicle.
  • It is illegal  to change a vehicle’s engine numbers, stamped body numbers, documents,VIN decal, etc., to commit fraud.

A car’s identity  is made of several parts – documents and matching serial numbers found in many places on the car. The VIN decal is one part of a vehicles identity. Below is an incomplete list of places to find the car’s VIN.

  • On the door frame/door post of the front doors (usually driver’s but sometimes passenger’s)
  • On the dash near the windshield
  • On the engine itself (machined pad on front of engine)
  • On the car’s firewall
  • In the left-hand inner wheel arch
  • On the steering wheel/steering column
  • On the radiator support bracket
  • On your car’s title, registration, guarantee/maintenance book or on the declarations page of your auto insurance policy.
